Tuning 13B turbo with Haltech E6K

Postby Crampy » Tue Oct 13, 2009 2:06 pm

Hi guys.
My mate's about to get his RX7 tuned up and needs to find someone in the Auckland area to tune it.

It's a 13B turbo with T51R Kai turbo, running a Haltech E6K ECU.

Anyone know of a GOOD tuner that can help him out? He'd prefer to engine dyno it first, but if need be can put the motor back in for tuning.

Cheers dude.

CBR isn't really an option for my mate, so I'd say Bob will be the go.

I would be more likely to head toward Pulse in Wanganui or CBR than Kiwi RE

CBR seem to get great results and there motors last

Didn't kiwi re go under (and Warren started Pulse) - or has Alec started up again?

That's what I thought.
Anyways, it looks like Hitech Motorsport is the go. Gave them a call today and they seem good as. Looks like it's best for the motor to go in first though, so he'll be off to do that quick smart.

cheers heaps guys.

I guess this must be bryans car, man that thing has been in the build for a while.

Kent at speedsource does some great tuning, i gave no idea if he does a lot of work on the chicken cookers though..
current cars:
Evo 4 230Kw atw
1971 mini.
79 bugeye 245kw atw.
Evo powered mx5 under construction

Yep sure is.
Brian refuses to go to CBR too, as he's been f*cked around with the engine builder (one guy that worked on it in the CBR crew) and them being dodgey not using the parts he bought for it.... among other things.
After first starting the motor, it was spewing oil smoke. They stripped it to find second hand parts (oil control seals, etc) had been used (even his brand new Sard injectors were no where to be seen), so something dodgey had happened. It's been an ongoing cluster f*ck of epic proportions.

Brian had problems with Kent too. I'd say mainly due to Kent being too busy, but still he fluffed around rather than just tellin Brian he was too busy.

so, motor is now rebuilt. Time to get the old girl going. Should be insane.
So Hitech Motorsport gets the nod.

Bob from Hytech is awesome, he won't run you car to the ragged edge in the search of power, you will get a good reliable tune which all you really want.
