4agze cam and turbo Qs
Wll after selling, being through afew cars and bikes since i sold my last trueno i couldnt keep away. The 4agze is to perfect to pass on and is a million times better than the ej20. im so glad im not a subaru owner any more. worst sports car i have ever owned.
But to the point I have got myself another GTZ, ae101. I have some parts lying around. Now im doing the head gasket soon so will have the head off. But i also have some blue top cams in the sheed. What must be done to put these in safely. Just reshim? I believe the springs fine with these cams?
I also have a VF13 turbo in good condition that I had spear for the legacy when i had that. but have been thinking it may be good to rip off the S/C and throw it on. Would it be suited for the application. or run out of puff to soon running say 14psi
Now i have another 4a i regret selling off all my old parts. why did i sell my forget pistons and H beams. (face palm).. any way this thing needs a big tidy up and in need of some serious TLC.

AE92 Trueno Sprinter 4AGZE
bluetop cams will go straight in with no adjustments. but always pays to check clearances.
Id say a VF13 is a little small, just my opinion!. I have had two gtz turbos and found Evo Tdo5h to be a perfect turbo for 4agte. Not too responsive or too Laggy.
yes 4agzes are good motors, raped mine with 175mm pulley kit, then turbo on stock ecu, then wound it up with Link 19psi, Manfield, Drags and daily driven. still going strong

Just a quick question, is a 4agze turbo fine to drive on the stock ecu with no tune (that's if you can tune it) 8psi of boost. Im getting my car back next week and it wont be getting an ecu for another 2 weeks after that.
Getting adaptronic put in. Heard good things, and at $1300 supplied and installed, its hard to pass up.

Should be perfectly fine at 8psi unless its an extremely efficient large turbo it will have enough fuel.
Don't push it until you get the new ecu AND tune then you will be fine.

I think its small, but im using a Garrett GT2560R -4 300HP.
Essentially a bolt on for GTR.
Hoping to make around 140-150kw ATW on 14psi with the turbo.
Hello There
my fx on 1st motor td05 16g on 8psi ran 13.8sec then i stuffed around with timing and detoanted and destroyed my aries pistons
toyota supra 1996 2jzgte t64 turbonetics
Was 300hp on 10psi with stock twins, hopefully on similar boost be around 400hp
4x4 toyota blizzard offroader
widebody markII escort panelvan
RIP 13sec AE82 fxgt 4agte 5psi TD05 20g

seeing as the cams have to come out anyway to get the head off, would it not be stupid no to put them in?? cant hurt can it....... im gonna be puttin mine in when the head goes back on
its not going to hurt , but it does nothing so complete waste of time much mate ?

My old levin with td05h 16g was running 12psi as a daily on stock map ecu. I did knock the timing back a bit though. Does pay to check with wideband as with my old trueno and big turbo, fuel map was pretty crap til WOT and then it just dumped fuel in.
but yeah that drop off they have at 5500 and boost cut at 15psi are the limiting factors.

Doesn't sound like a waste of time then. My turbo Levin has Bluetop cams.
Probably worth it if you have a turbo as you will have better pick up in the lower rev range.
For what ever reason, people in NZ don't seem to be fond of dyno testing. On the Twincam site, everyone dyno's everything.
Is it a cost issue?
It costs $90 to run or $40 for a group. Sounds reasonable.
Good to find what products work cause people do benchmark testing.

I have an AE92 Map, so fortunately I don't have that problem.
Just viewed my car yesterday. It made 107kw ATW on 7psi no tune 6000rpm (was only testing for driveability)
Less PSI and the turbo is already making more power than the supercharger.
FYI Supercharger made 105kw ATW on 11psi front mount, exhaust and pulley.
Hello There
thanks for the info. i think i will throw in the blue top cams as turboing is still on my mind. i'll have to wait untill the new year to decide what i want to do.
and for the turbo i currently have. is now on trade me.

Really ? cause we did one here and it made no difference whatsoever and also tryed it on supercharged version aswell , which did nuthing but run exsesively rich .
