Blacktop 20V Oil Seeping from Rocker Cover?

Postby Kittah » Fri Nov 20, 2009 2:38 pm

I seem to have oil seeping from between the engine rocker cover and head. Any ideas on what could be causing this? It doesn't piss out at all, but I can see that oil's been seeping from there.

Rocker cover gasket?

Simple job of unbolting the rocker cover, removing the gasket, replacing the gasket and bolting the rocker cover back on I take it? Nothing complicated or fancy involved?

Cheers for the swift reply by the way :)

So it's a matter of removing the cover, clearing the old gasket and replacing it and then replacing the cover?

Much appreciated :)

youll also need a few dabs of silicon around the humps in the gasket, you should remove the old stuff first.

3x 12mm nuts in the sparkplug channel (don't over tighten can crack cover)
2 x hex screws in the top cambelt cover
ohh and you need to unplug the a/c, oil pressure and vvt solenoid to lift the loom off the cover

Or you might find it just needs a bit of a tweak on the 12mm nuts.....
See ya
