4AGE engines were nightmares to get filters off- trying to get the filter by reaching under the 'warm' exhaust manifold.

That, and the next job I'm looking forward to is replacing the sunroof motor on the Curren- only tool four years to find the information on the internet, since not a single mechanic/ panelbeater/ electrician wanted to touch it... looks to be an easy enough job lol
The sunroof job-
That job will be easy, drop the headliner, undo the drain tubes on each corner of sunroof frame, undo wires, undo all bolts holding sunroof to car roof, take out of car, remove motor ,change over motor, lube all cables etc, test everything works with allen key inserted in motor drive, then reassemble.

yeah, that is pretty much my plan... talk to the experts though and you'd think I'd asked them to perform brain surgery... from the looks of it it should be a job of a few hours tops, so why am I getting told either 'no way jose' or 'about $800 + parts'? Either way, they don't want the job... :?

How do you get the A & B Pillar panel covers off? I take it they are clipped on, so (carefully) lever them off?

Yes they are clipped, the A pillar has a hook at the bottom which usually hooks into dashboard, start unclipping at top and work down.
