Manfeild is the place to be this weekend anyway. Who's coming?

I'll be there helping on my friends new but old Supra with a new suspension and turbo set-up.It went on the dyno today they are expecting between 350-400 KW and I can gaurantee you this you won't see wider wheels on a racecar outside of those Trans-ams 12.5' wheels on all 4 corners and 300 plus wide slicks.

Well then you'd love the sweeper at Manfield thats exactly like that.

no no no, they need to have one at Hampton downs!!!

Agreed Hampton Downs is easily the best track in the country espeecially when they get the full track done.

Mind you Manfield is a drivers track and it big banked corners are conjusive to high cornering speeds.

you should do a rwd conversion, then any corner, or straight for that matter will get your car moving around ;)

Hampton has only 1 really fast corner whereas Taupo (full track) has 2. Manfield is prob best for high HP cars with the camber on most turns. HD when finished will still be tight with a series of corners much like Taupo's infield.

South Island rules for high speed me thinks.......

Dunno why HD deviated so far from its original deisgn, it even goes in a different direction - not anti-clockwise as planned.

Car was doing fine guys, not as bad as you may think - Maybe pulling the gearbox out 100 times made it seem like that lol :D

The engine has only actually ever been rebuilt once in its life but it didnt really need to be rebuilt. The pistons in the first engine came with it when I bought the engine off Vvega and had only thought it was going to make 250kw max. The bores had been machined a bit too big for the pistons but I decided to just try it out anyhow as I didnt have much $ as was studying at Uni doing my BE . Result - loud pistons but still did the job.

So then bought some new pistons and bored the block to the correct size, that engine did 2 drag seasons 10 runs per meeting about 6 meetings per season, about 4 track days, and 2 superlaps.
Until I installed an electronic boost controller and from there everything went down hill :(
It got boost spikes which fried the top rings at the drags, replaced those, then went to Puke and the controller again was playing up and spiking to 30psi+ when it was tuned for only 20psi along with fuel surge which I never have encountered as I normally ran over half a tank of gas. So it killed a piston.

Lesson - Simple boost taps FTW. Or buy a $$ electronic controller which works properly.
Fuel return plumbed into wrong location not allowing pick up area to fill fast enough

Got married bought a house and havent had the time to put in some new pistons
Built another engine for a guy which took 3-4 months of my spare time after hours. I guess some things have to come before your own car.

Any how, enough of my blabble.
Good luck for those competing tomorrow.

I take it that was the point 2 point EVO on fire?

Was looking forward to kicking it's arse at Taupo next weekend.

saw some pics on NZhondas, looked like a good day.
Has a pic of the Point 2 Point evo on fire, poor guy. He said he went testing at puke the day before and the oil filter came off and created a fire but they managed to put it out. Possibly the same thing happened..

ohh you will be at taupo next week matt, damn I can't make it to watch. Will be a good event for you, show them what a 7a can do!

One more pic of the point to point evo. It took a long time for them to put it out, the wind was not really helping.
