Yes but it would without doubt reduce the number of kids in high performance vehicles... surely you cannot disagree with that?

I aggree that there will be people who drive anyway but if the kids are already driving without wof/reg they are already off the rails... my suggestion was about making it harder for good kids to access the high performance stuff and hurt themselves and those around them until they are a bit more experienced.

Aggree though that it would require heavy regulation to stop the insurance companies from running riot.

Correct, find a uk insurance website and do an online quote. Integra Type R, don't expect much change from 3k POUNDS a year.

Potentially, but probably not. I was 19 when I had a S4 RX-7, had no insurance on that, wasnt financed though. Had insurance been compulsary, I would have done what I did with the MR2, and cancelled the insurance after the first month :lol: Yeah dumb, but what can you do

The uk is far to strict on insurance, when my mate in the UK was looking for a car, he couldn't even afford to insure an old 1.2 Vauxhall corsa (holden barina)!

My first car was only a 3SGE ST183 Celica and that was fast enough for learning to drive! Even with my 4AFE Trueno AE101, i find it hard to drive sensibly and keep it under the speed limit, can't imagine the amount of fines i'd get in a Evo/Scooby :lol: :lol:

Having a 4AFE keeps my parents happy and keeps the insurance/petrol bill down 8)

Power restriction and compulsary insurance for under 21's i think.

proof of WOF Rego licence and insurance to buy fuel would help weed out those who shouldnt be there.

Silly idea, it is not up to fuel station staff to play cops. Opens huge can of worms.

Exactly all these ideas are ridiculous...
no powerful cars - what's a powerful car?, what isn't a powerful car?
compulsory insurance - drive without it. Only the law abiding will be punished.
can't drive till 21 - why not make it 30?, why not 40?

all stupid "solutions". Where are the statistics that indicate any of these options would help?

well , everyone did stupid thing when they were young

i admit myself did a bit of over speeding when i was twenty got caught by

cops , went to court for careless driving

over the years as i get older and look back i am glad that i didnt get killed

in that incident

Thats not so my brother inlaw is one of the bosses for vero insurance and speeking to him about compulsary 3rd party would actually bring down the cost based on the more that do so the cheaper it gets.

As much as i can see where some are coming from if the situation was reversed and someone ran into your pride and joy and had no insurance how would you feel?

And if you ran into a lambo and didnt have it well im sure you would run for cover pretty quick, its done to protect both parties so i think its a great idea and as you age becomes cheaper again.

Its not about punishing its about being fair to all that are part of the system,and peace of mind.

Why is insurance stupidly expensive in the UK?

I mean sure, the more people with it would in theory lower the cost, but if people NEED it, then prices could just as easily go up and people would still have to pay. Knowing what insurance companies are like, i'd say the later would happen. Thing is, if insurance companies have to insure idiots they wouldn't normally cover, then everyone elses premiums might increase to cover the increased risk. Maybe.

If you have a car worth something to you, have full insurance and it won't matter if the other party has insurance or not imo. Not having any at all is madness but each to their own. No skin off my nose etc.

I *still* don't see what the problem is.

Read the stats, just as many older people cause crashes as young people. Drink driving is more of a problem imo, which happens in all age groups also but generally begins young.

Quit the waa waa young kids in fast cars thing, and slam home the drink driving charges.

Regardless of what anyone thinks the powers to be will change things as they see fit.
Being pro active is the way to go if you dont want to loose what rights you have now,young or old makes no differance its up to the individual to the overall out come for the future of the import scene.

Remember they dont care what your reasons are for being a dick, you will get hammered for it, and thats the bottom line.

Why? Kids go to school everyday, but it doesn't mean they will lead an educated life. Education will not curb the minority labeled as "boyracers". From what I understand and have experienced with young people; it's peer pressure, a want to fit in and a sense of respect that fuels a stereotypical "boyracer".

I agree driver education will be a positive thing, but I don't think it should be the main focus. If you teach people how to drive, there will be many that will want to push the boundaries. IE: Now I know how to control my car based on what I've learned by someone "qualified" to teach me that, I can drive faster, harder as I'm a "qualified boyracer".

It still comes back to maturity no matter what reasons you can come up with and again that covers all ages.

For starters it will stop people falling off slight curves at 80kmh...

The single biggest contibuter to crashes in NZ is basic lack of driving skills.
By driver education I mean making it much harder to get a license, actually having to learn to DRIVE to get a license, as opposed to just showing you can pass an easy test.

As you just said forget about blaming the kids etc... I am not talking about" boy racers" or young people etc. I'm talking everyone
