ae101 gtz ( yup another advice thread )

Hey guys, might possibly in the next couple of weeks have the opportunity to pick up what seems to be like a fairly tidy AE101 GT-Z

the basic run down is

140,000km
jam racing pulley
trd adjustable shocks
apexi exhaust of some kind
toms big mouth front bumper
paint has been touched up by dr bob

now to be honest, I haven't seen photos of it yet, it is in auckland and the person is sending me photos this weekend, it has mainly been garaged for the last couple of years and he took it for a WOF last week it failed on tyres and brake pads. I've got good mind to trust the seller as he is very well known within the NZ Import scene.

My questions are:
What would the worth of this vehicle be? Ballpark figure? My brain tells me around $5000.
And second, what should I be looking for, or be aware of that may be problematic with the vehicle?

*yes I searched, but most GTZ related threads I found were from around 2005! Helpful, but didn't answer everything I wanted to know.

for 5k it would have to be mint with extra special bits.

You will be aware of superstrut issue?
other than noisey supercharger (check tis oil) there isn't a lot else

Yeah, have heard the super-strut can be an issue, not going to get too paranoid about that though, regardless what people say about paying arms and legs for people, because more wise people have pointed out numerous times that they are not actually that expensive!! ( Mainly you Rev if I had a dollar for everytime you told someone SS parts aren't that expensive! )

But yes, trust nobody is always good when you are putting money into things, problem being that the person selling it, along with a couple of his close friends, are usually the people that I get to look @ anything car-wise in Auckland. May have to entice a trusty TS Aucklander to have a look!

About time you went forced induction.
The supercharger makes the car feel very streetable.
Insta-power.

But check the supercharger oil. Most owners dont check, or change them...ever.

Debatable. Most will tell you theyre TRD so are oem and dont require a cert.

Even if it was trd adjustable coilovers you still dont need a cert for them. Look up the definition of OE"

Original equipment, fitted at the time of the manufacture of the vehicle, or part supplied by the vehicle manufacturer.

Trd is toyota so it was supplied by toyota. Its right there in writing so it cant be argued.

However I think if you look now, the wording is slightly altered and that loophole is now closed.
