OP: Are you serious? One of the 5 Aus spec GT4 WRCs is the one at pick-a-part???????

I heard it's white, Is the hatch in good nick? I need this actually so I don't have to fill in my spoiler holes as I changed to a WRC wing.

Wonder if the Group A badge is still on it, that would be sweet.

I've seen the red one and the silver one in person, still in good nick, very straight.

Why the hell did such a car end up dumped at pick-a-part?? And anyone keen to help me retrieve the hatch? Don't think it will fit in my car lol.

you just need an early hatch , not a late model one .. Same bolt holes ..

it doesnt need to be Group A

As for badges , mines the only one in the country with the group A rallye badges ..

Frank has one but is a big girl and wont put it on , and im going to try and source another two for rich and mister silver car guy on this latest trip to australia..

Im also going to run my vin thru toyota australias database to see if there is any record of it touching these shores ..

Yep thats right, 94-95 Any Celica has the same holes for the 2 post spoiler and wrc wing which is just a standard wing with extender blocks.

Which of the 5 do you own?

I've seen the red one in a parking lot once, I can't remember where, somewhere out east maybe which had the Group A Rallye badge on the back.

The silver one is owned by an older guy whos had it for ages, I met him at a gas station and complimented him on his fine car, asked him if he was a member of any clubs or forums he said no. Can't remember if he had the Group A Rallye badge on the back or not but knew straight away it was one of the 5 as it had the personalised plate GT4 WRC and telltail signs that it was not a Japanese WRC model. I think the leather seats and manual aircon controls gave it away.

The red one huh.

If I see it again I may stop and have another perve (at your st205wrc ofcourse) + make small talk if you're around.

Does it have the plaque in the cabin??

yup , so i believe ( re touring with supra ).. They told me it was used in shows , previous to being sold , and its sales record/ owners history has alot of dealers against its name for little to no KLMS..

The aussie ones got the plaques , ours didnt , but i am in the process , slowly but surely to do something about that.. Ive spent the at week here in oz trying to chase up as much info i can for the cars , plus some parts hunting , but havent had much success ..

Did manage to find more group A rallye badges available yesterday , which is a start , least if Rich wants one i can get one for him now ..

So the 5 in nz are 5 out of the aussie 77?

Or are the 5 nz ones in addition to the aussie 77 making 82 in total, the last 5 not receiving a build number but just some production line extras?

the blue gt4 in the ad comes up as toyota cbu 1993, what the hell?

Thanks for posting that, bit of a blast from the past :)

Lots of the ST204, not much of the GT-Four sadly.

re our 5 being out of oz's 77, thats one of the things ill have an answer for on monday when i speak to neal bates again

by the looks of it so far our allocation was seperate.

we didnt get the little additives like badges or plaques the ozzie ones did , but i can still get the extras ..

each ozzy one has a plate , and a spare , and so far my vin hasnt got a record of landing in oz..

Neal will know more.. He also still has his TTE group A in his workshop, still driving and racing in displays/demos

How about this does yours start ST205 or E-ST205. the E at the start refers to a code for which emissions regulations the car conforms to in Japan. correct??? If none maybe its aussie?

both the aussie and the nz one and any other one will start with JT

and both will be ST205R-BLMVZ

Its the numbers after JT that need to be run through the Toyota Australia database or each state's transport agency database to see if it was ever registered there before being imported here.

This will tell us what I asked if the 5 NZ WRC cars were part of the limited 77 aussie builds (then stripped of the cabin plaque before being sold in NZ)

OR

If these were 5 builds after the first 77 meaning a total of 82 Aus-spec GT-Four Group A Rallye cars were built.

If the 5 NZ WRC cars were originally part of the aussie 77, then classique71 would want to obtain the original items that were stripped from the cars before being sold in NZ, This includes the rear badge, cabin plaque and whatever else from the interior was stripped (they're mechanically the same otherwise.)

The "Group A" badge is a TMCA part, so they sourced it and added it to thier cars.
Hence why it's not in the EPC.
I cannot see why they would register those cars in oz then send them here.

Where the export cars built later than the jap ones?

I have heard rumours of some genuine JDM ST205 WRC that were numbered higher than 5000.

Hmmmm, wonder if that is my car? Mine was initially owned by the Albany Toyota manager and used in at least one NZ magazine shoot so possible. There was an identical blue non-Group A used in teh same magazine.

I'm guessing that they slapped available plates on unregistered cars for the photo shoots. The Supra and MR2 were however registered with those plates.

The Supra is still around, serviced by R&B and is owned by the guy that did a lot of the driving in those ads.
Iirc he also has an NZ new AW11.
I also got to serve "Scotty" when I was there. He's taller than he looked on tv....
