Side exit exhaust

Been toying with the idea since I can't have the exhaust out the back for various reasons. Thought I might cut up some scrap bits of steel today and see what I think of it.

If I do go for it, the pipes will be properly slash cut stainless with a stainless heatshield of some description riveted to the skirt. The car may also be washed. Possibly.

Thoughts?

Yep 2 wastegate dumps. One off each wastegate (twin entry turbine) and a single 3" turbo dump. I'll try and get a better picture of it at some point over the weekend

Haven't really looked into it tbh But merging them into the downpipe just after the turbine should make life a little easier for me and possibly quieten the thing down a tiny, insignificant bit

might pay to look at fabricating the rear bit of the sideskirt out of stainless to try stop everything from melting. would look pretty cool too IMO. looks pretty simple to copy the profile of the side skirt and weld up.

I'll be making a stainless steel heat shield on both the outside and inside of the sideskirt. I don't really wanna do anything too drastic because I'm sorta expecting the sideskirts to get smashed up/damaged fairly often with the car being so low so it's easier to repair them if I keep them mostly fibreglass

ground clearance will not be your friend

You will probably find that you flatten your exhaust pipe on a semi regular basis between the sill and things like car park ramps

As far as I can tell from reading the VIRM there is no requirement for a specific distance from the rear most door. Aside from the usual noise level, I can't have them exiting on the left side of the vehicle for obvious reasons.

I thought the distance was from the rear most opening window, would look nicer if you merged the two wastegate pipes into one the same size as your exhaust piping

Mine is 'low' but looks high which is gay, but I can barely get up my drive as it is....already hitting it at a 45..... how do you even drive it that low?

Its easy avoid driving around Palmy full stop. Luckily I had the fore thought to buy a house with a flat driveway, no angles onto the road, just an ever so slight bump into the garage.

I vote do it, especially since there is zero room out the back for your exhaust and it does look cool.

The exhaust photo you've got as an example looks to be directed away from the perimiter of the vehicles passenger compartment. Should be legal if it's not going to poison you, be too loud, or maim pedestrians.
