I always chuck something else under just in case as well. Might be paranoid, but getting squashed would not be fun! Spare wheel / blocks of wood do.

ahhh i see, lol i originally thought an axle stand can "jack up" the car like a jack does. and now I understand that axle stands are just what they are called...."STANDS" lol

Thanks all for the info! and yes i did find out the proper spot to jack up my AE111, there are two little grooves sitting maybe 8 or 10 cm apart from each other on each side of the chassis, thats where you put the jack in think, read it from a owners hand book or sumthing :)

...Yes, but you should not use a car jack in those places unless you have a block of wood/something with a groove cut into it.

If you jack the car up using the ridge of metal, it WILL bend, you need to jack up on either side of the ridge, which means you need an 'adaptor', if you will

This only really applies if you're not using the scissor jack that came with the car, as these already have the groove cut into it....

Just jack it slowly

I'll make an adapter soon I swear! Though i'm usually jacking either the whole front or whole rear with a trolley jack so doesn't really matter as not using the factory points.

Or try making ramps by stacking a few bits of 6x2 timber, much easier :)

I usually change the oil with the car sitting on the ground, it's a wee bit more awkward but I want the sump level so it all comes out.

i drive my cars up onto my hory homemade wooden ramps, then jack up the back of the car with my trolley jack - car is level and theres space to crawl around underneath

The four seasons in Australia consist of "$&#$% it's hot", "Can you believe how $&#$% hot it is?", "I won't be in today because it is too $&#$% hot" and "Yes, the dinner plate size spiders come inside to escape from the heat."
