need to take a crank pulley of a car at pick a part so i dont have keys etc. can this be done without a impact wrench?

Yep, take out a spark plug and fill one of the cylinders with rocks, will stop the engien from turning over all of the way when you undo the bolt. :lol:

They can be a PITA to get off without a gear puller though.

could just fill the cylinders with water to achieve the compression lock.

If the gearbox + axels + brakes are still there, all you need is 2 people

Is the gearbox off?
If the gearbox off just jam the ring gear with random junk (plenty at pickapart), and unbolt.
if the gearbox is still there, then you can use rope in the sparkplug hole.

If all fails chisel the bolt.

agree with a rope in the spark plug hole. just make sure it doesnt fall in.

yep, used this many a time. usually use a nylon type rope with plenty of length.
