Just wondering how do people adjust the HKS SSQV's from either soft or hard?

Loosen 6mm (from memory) nut on the back. Turn bolt clockwise to tighten or anti clockwise to loosen. Tighten 6mm nut on back.

I pulled apart a Chinese copy of this BOV, and that screw only adjusts how much diaphragm is opening (basically is a stopper), and not the spring....

The adjustment bolt pushes on a metal cap attached to the spring. That adjusts how much travel the diaphragm has but also preloads (compresses) the spring which changes how much pressure differential is needed to open the valve. With the bolt all the way out these horrible BOV's make the world's most god awful noise with very little boost. With the bolt all the way in you need a fair bit of boost to open them and hear the noise of your ears being raped.

It's all down to personal preference though. Some people like that sound. Others....not so much.

It also depends on how much psi you're currently running as well correct? I mean the higher the psi, the more pressure in the system? Which would then make it louder I guess.

If that's the case, the Mazda GTR's only set on it's stock 7psi at the moment

You can fix high pitch whistle by removing plastic Mercedes logo round thingy from that BOV.

Um, what bolt is it that you can either losen off or tighten more?

The problem is that there's EIGHT of them around the centre fin, plus at the rear.

So which one is it...

done a quick google search and have read that there is no adjustment screw on the newer versions of the hks ssqv

What version do you have?

Big nut+bolt on the back. If yours is a new version - it won't have it and isn't adjustable. If it does, go for gold.

You cant just remove that merc badge fin looking thing as it also acts as a seal in the front, I tried with mine back in the day. There are replacement round inserts that you can buy if you dont want it squeaking away.

Does anyone know what type of blow off valves you can buy new that actually are still designed with the option of either a soft or hard postion?

I only know of the Greddy RS Trust ones.
