Heat paint for brake hard lines?

Postby cat007 » Mon Nov 22, 2010 5:43 pm

Hi peeps

A couple of my brake hard lines out of the master cylinder run a bit close to my wastegate for my liking.

Is there a brush on paint I can get to apply to the brake lines that will help prevent the heat from penetrating through them and therefore into the brake fluid?

Cheers

i'd have thought a heat shield would be more effective, air gaps ftw

Yeah same except there are too many angles to make a heatshield that doesn't look like complete arse lol

you can buy heat resistant sleeving, I'm not sure who sells it but I'd start with places like Alert, GSS etc. Would definitely be the best option in this case, realistically paint isn't going to make much of a difference.

I'd rather have it look like arse than melt my brake lines

Thanks Barry. I'll give them a call tomorrow. Wonder if that stuff comes in small enough diameters - guess we'll see :)

that stuff is ok.

Didnt stop enough heat from my exhaust area to my oil lines as when I took the orange sleeve off, the oil lines had already started to melt :S.

So I switched to the silver fyre foil as it actually reflects the heat.
