Postby imat89 » Tue Feb 08, 2011 9:51 am

Hi everyone!

Does anyone know how hard/how to remove the factory roof racks on a 1998 Toyota Caldina?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Tie roof racks to tow bar of another car
Engage first gear
Floor it whilst pressing the TURBO BOOST button

looks like you have to remove your roof lining and unbolt from there if there are no covers for bolt heads topside.

Forklift.
Can use it for pumping the guards as well.

Maybe ask your mrs is she is up to the task if you're unsure you can manage

What have you tried so far?

Not recommended unless you're replacing them with something else to give strength to the roof.

depends if you just want to take the racks off and not the mounting points if so its a easy job just remove the cover on end of each rack and undo 14mm or 12mm bolts and lift off,
if you wanna remove the mounts aswell its a huge job you first gotta take the roof lining off so to get that off you have to remove boot trim side pillar trim, then if you have a sun roof you gotta drop that down then you can remove the mounts by unbolting them, now you have 8 wholes in your roof,
i've had mine off for a few months now and am now thinking why i took them off as they are very handy to have
