1g block differences

Postby Townace » Fri Feb 11, 2011 9:17 pm

Do 1g-ge and 1g-fe share the same block? and did the engine mount castings change once the engine went vvti?

I thought if toyota made any major changes to the block it would have been renamed to a 2G-FE? Or do they only change the number if the capacity changes?

Engine mounts are unlikely to change due to vvti, more likely to differ depending which car the motor is from. (Example GXE10 altezza or GX100 chaser)
Project cars: 83 corona tt142, 83 corona mark2 gx61, 82 avante chaser gx61.

Interesting cheers, contemplating a 1g-fe conversion into my hilux.

1g-ge is an easy conversion from looking on the net but are old tech so was considering a 1g-fe since you can pick up a import engine cheap enough and the utes a daily driver so useable power and economy are what im looking for

1G-FE is quite a nice engine, great at what they're designed for.

The only 1G-FE i would consider using is the beams version, the older gen fe's are ok but they don't like to rev like the ge does.

But really, I would go straight for a 1/2JZ-GE, they aren't as expensive as they used to be and are such a superior motor.

Seriously, I would never consider a 1G anything for a commercial vehicle.

I'm not just wanking on about 1g hate, It's just that the jz engines are that much better, and you will thank me later.

Unless weight and space is an issue

If it's not - why not go for a supercharged 350 chev?

Weight and space isn't an issue for a 1jz in a hilux, stop being a dweeb.

Yep to factory ecu, that's not a problem.

The number at the start will denote size. ie 1JZ vs 2JZ
