Hey,
Having troubles with my 1JZGTE clutch
Ill try keep it simple and brief,
It had an Autoclutch Pressure plate and solid center disc, they machined the flywheel to work together when they made it all.
The autoclutch plate broke so I replaced it with a stock organic Exedy plate
Now the clutch will not disengage and I cant change gear, this gets worse after the cars been running for a few minutes and its hot.
Ive replaced the master cylinder with a new one, wound the adjuster on the pedal all the way out, made longer pushrods for the slave, the last rod I made was longer again but made the problem worse, still couldnt change gear and it was half disengaged with the pedal on the floor.
It has a pretty big slave cylinder, Hilux I think, would It help changing to a smaller bore slave to get more throw help? or is it possible the new clutch plate is just too thick for the pressure and fly setup?
I did have it going a couple of times when it changed really well cold, then got super bad when it was warm.
Any help would be great! need it going by tomorrow!
Cliffs:
Had autoclutch pressure plate and clutch plate
Changed to stock organic disc
Wound adjuster on pedal all the way out
Clutch still wont disengage enough to change gear smoothly
Possibly clutch disc too think or slave cylinder bore too big
?????

Maybe ur over throwing it too much.
Jack car up, car someone to turn wheels while you slowly push down on clutch pedal.
If you broke the clutch plate the first time round possibly you could have been over throwing the whole system and now the pressure plate is r**ted.

Hmm, possibly overthrowing it too much,
with the car in the air, the clutch is engaging about 5mm off the floor, can that still mean over thrown?
My theory was that by putting longer rods on the slave i was using up alot of the stroke the big bore slave had, so the longe r rod was effectively getting less throw, and maybe a smaller bore would help?
The old clutch disc developed play around the rivets holding the spline and ripped those out

Putting a longer rod in the slave wont really do anything.
Making the rid longer on the clutch master cylinder will throw the slave further. But you can only make it so long until it bottoms out inside the cylinder.
Smaller slave piston will give you more throw.

i would make 100% sure you arent over throwing it before you put a smaller slave on. hard to diagnose sometimes. you can work it out on how much the pressure plate lever is moving. it should only be moving between sorta 5-8mm. if you are goin more than that u are probly bottoming the pressure plate fingers onto the clutch plate or similar. i used an autoclutch solid kevlar plate behind my 400kw 2jzgte and never ever had a problem. and it got beaten severely. hard to imagine that it would fail on its own.
