Doesnt yours do skids if you rev it and drop the clutch?

I could do a run with grippy tyres but it would make me look like a complete and utter twat using good tyres and only running 17's and probably break something in the driveline.

Lol.... of course it does / did. The kids comment was aimed at the fact you thought it was the only way the car could do them. As that's what i'd expect someone to say that doesn't know any better.

As for grippy tyres no one looks like a twat for using quality parts. No matter how slow you may be. If you are aiming to improve your times, without a doubt i'd invest in some good tyres for the front.

I will use better tyres once i have gone through these sh!tty sunfull (i think) chinese brand tyres. I have already promised tsoob that i will be getting some good tyres off him when these are gone.

It was really funny at nightspeed, I pissed off a few people because they were beaten by a little starlet

You should stick to the cheap Chinese tyres. Heres why:

With the tyres that have better grip, its because they're stickier. Like bubble gum. When your wheel rolls forward, the engine has to exert a force in order to pull the stuck rubber off the ground. With the Chinese tyres, it doesn't have to do that, because it just rolls off, and all that engine power wasted on unsticking the tyre as it rolls can be put towards actually making the car go forward!
If you were to put on a decent set of tyres, I predict that it would increase your times by 2, maybe 3 seconds!

Not to mention the clutch will get fried about 5-10 times quicker
