Leaking Brake master cylinder?!

Failed a WOF on a "leaking" brake master cylinder.
Apparently it's leaking from the back of the cylinder where it mounts to the servo.
I had a look at lunch and there is excess fluid, on the reservoir from spillage or something. And there does look to be some running down the servo.
I still need to pull it off and see where it's actually coming from.

It's a 1993 AE100 with 150000km. WTF?! The seals have $&#$% out already?! :evil:

Yeah, has probably sat for long periods of time given its k's and age.

I've found that my older cars after leaving them to sit for ~6months when I've come back cylinders are leaking. Rust causes pitting which then chops your seals, sux big time.

Brake fluid is hydroscopic. So it absorbs moisture that can eventually over time start to damage the seals and cause leakages, if the fluid isn't regularly changed.

It's an alloy cylinder, so no rust. But yeh, it may have been sitting for a long time before I got it.
PITA for the daily though.
Now, do I get a replacement from pick a part? Or get a seal kit and rebuild it? Bearing in mind this is the CHEAP daily.

I'd use MP Autoparts because they are local to me. But BNT would probably do it too.

Could just price up a rebuild of it with new seals with a brake specialist. I got my callipers done ages ago and it was pretty reasonable. Good peace of mind too.

This year i got my DD celica, was sitting for 4 years, the master cylinder $&#$% out after a week of driving lol
zing! Sig got nuked. Sorry bout that.

Used some brake system cleaner to spray off all the spillage around the master cylinder yesterday. Took the master cylinder off today. It was pristine in there, no signs of brake fluid seepage. I think it just looked like a leak and it was just spillage.
