You had a look on trademe? Their are HID 'style/type/whatever' bulbs all over the show.

Interesting, what grounds did they fail LED park lamps on?

Specific viewing angles would be the only real reason. Some of the cheap ones are quite directional

I would not care if it would affect only you, the problem is that it affect everyone else: they create too much glare for oncoming traffic, they also create too much glare and too little light for yourself, so do every one a favour and install unhindered light bulbs.
