Yeah man thats so linear. Electric motors arent linear power curves though either. I thought they make max power roughly 1/2 max rpm...

I have no clue what it is.

H22A? or variant of? everyone I've driven had a real vtec kick so would have thought it wouldnt have such a smooth power curve.

Its a modified (but still naturally aspirated ) H22A in a Type-S Prelude :)

I was hoping the smooth curve would put people off the scent...

Quite big, Skunk2 Pro2 cams... they are 302/312deg with lots of lift on Hi-Cam iirc, but the low cam is also quite agro so it makes more than a typical NA 4 even off VTEC.

He has a build thread NZHondas if you have a logon there: http://nzhondas.com/forum/build-threads/84176-h22-na-build-bb6-dh-1-06-2011-dh-185dt6wkw-mobil-98-factory-rev-limit.html

Take it by the steady rise of power, torque is like a table top?

Reasonably so for a VTEC Honda - torque was still climbing.

Here is the full unedited screen shot from the tuning session:

Here:

Its going to be running at the NZHondas dyno day in Welly this weekend, haven't decided whether to try and get a few hundred more rpm out of it before then or not.

Eek!! At the 8,500rpm we aim to rev it to, it will already have the piston speed of a 2JZ running to 9,000rpm... in combo with a fairly brutal 1.58 r/s ratio thats probably more than sufficient stress for a road car! 8O We'll probably just do that tune on on E85 too, its (unsurprisingly) octane limited on Mobil 98.

I'm guessing you can tell we've got on top of the E-Manage as well, seems to go well though is still definitely a compromise in some ways - I'm sure I could get the car behaving a fair bit nicer with a proper "full control" ECU, the stock OBDII closed loop lambda situation can make life a bit tricky for starters... with all the head work the engine doesn't really want to idle nicely with the kind of mixtures an "off the factory floor" engine would :(

You should come down check out the NZHondas dyno day at STM on Saturday if you haven't got much happening and feel like some shxt talking - I'll be lurking around much of the day as a few cars I've tuned will be running (including this one).

Good to hear you got some positive results with the ECU mate :)

I just got a WOF on the car yesterday so if it isnt pissing down, I might venture out for a look. How many cars are going on the dyno through the day? Any known weapons attending? You?

My car won't be running, there are about 20 cars lined up.

The day starts at 9, and that angry (for an NA) Prelude will be 3rd, and then an R33 GTS25t with stock turbo which I also tuned will be running after him, an Torneo which I believe Simon may have been around while I was tuning is also running (made 156kw last time, new owner wants another go), a supercharged Jaguar, a Turbo Type-R Integra, an 11 second EVO, Luke will be there with his now turbocharged Supra but not running it on the dyno, a few rotaries and some other cars I know no detail about.

I'm going to be there from just after 9, give us a text if you want. My car is having a bit of a holiday while I plan its fate ;)
