totally agree with this. having a BZR and drive it like its a Honda City is useless...

I don't race ppl nor have I ever taken it onto the track. But I make sure I take it to the motor way and give it a good go at least once every week

i agree. i look at it like this; if the engine is healthy and getting all the fuel and air it needs as well as keeping temps at bay, it should perform consistently to how the manufacturer tests them to start with. they do pretty brutal tests from factory like running it at redline for hours on a dyno.

i'd say my blacktop spends about 50-60% of its time running at redline or screaming to redline (including road and track driving) and has lasted pretty well. they just don't like 9-10K rpm as i found out... :P

also seen a 350000km silvertop being tested on dyno to the point headers were glowing red in the middle of the day and it didn't even miss a beat.

moral of the story; don't nana your car, 4ages can handle it.

i used to hit the redline in my BZ-G multiple times a day - kept the oil at the top level and made sure it was hot and it happily said hi to the redline 10+ times a day

last time i hit the redline in the supra was about 3 months ago - as you dont need to hit the redline xD - the $&#$% thing makes traction breaking boost at 3500rpm so no need to flog it at the redline unlike my old BZ-G :D

you forgot to mention that that 350000k silvertop did something like 4 or 5 runs glowing like that until the radiator fan melted and i still drive it every day. Its going for gold man, never say die!

If it runs, it squirts oil out of places that you never thought an engine had.

Ive foolishly found first @ 90km/h. works out to around 12k. Nothing broke. Engine is 273,000km old of hard driving. Drag racing, track days, dynos. The engine has seen it all.

High RPM causes increased friction which causes increase wear.

Oil has been changed around 5000km and checked reguarly. Only thing that breaks easy is the gearbox... need my 4th one in 8 years of ownership

and been thrashed from cold from day one.....

I love thrashing my silvertop to 9000 it sees it most days, one day I'll get bored of that amazing sound. It doesn't seem to complain too much :D yeah aslong as oil is full, its nice and warm then why not.

Yep +1 for all the good advise above, theres no point nana-ing a blacktop because it only gets happy from 5000rpm onwards, and completely gutless below 3000

"Just $&#$% thrash it"

Even my V8 soarer seems to enjoy a good rev every now and then even though it's done 320,000kms :D

Hmm ive taken the old FXGT into 7's

Makes quite a difference to have a high revver NA engine VS a turbocharged torquebeast ..
