4agte water lines for turbo

just sorting out the last btis and pieces i need before i go pulling my car apart and rebuild it as a 4agte


where do i run the water feed line for the turbo off my 20v silvertop?

im assuming the drain line ill just tap into the base of the radiator?
The four seasons in Australia consist of "$&#$% it's hot", "Can you believe how $&#$% hot it is?", "I won't be in today because it is too $&#$% hot" and "Yes, the dinner plate size spiders come inside to escape from the heat."

buy a turbo that doesn't need a water feed, much easier.

was planning on using either the stock turbo off my evo, or an s15 silvia turbo.

mainly because i have both sitting in my garage already

but seriously though where should i run it from?

I ran the hoses from the top and bottom of the radiator, I doubt much flow gets through this but the hot water rising thing should get some water flowing from bottom to top. Haven't had any problems yet.

Other people have tapped the lines into the heater lines.

Useful bit of info, speaking from experience.

I had a GT28 on 4agte, I didn't run the water lines and the ball bearing core was toast after less than 10,000km of mostly sedate driving and ONE track day.

I had been advised that it would be OK without water lines, obviously it wasn't :lol:

It was a bin job after that.

out of curiosity how did the gt28 go on a 4age? is it a good size for the 1600?

149kw with gze injectors. Very quick and smooth spool so no kick in the pants which is good for drivability.

T the heater hoses(both). This way it will be thermostat independent and get a good flow.

I recently did a turbo 4agze setup with a new masterpower t28,
Absolutely amazing to drive,
First tune hit 198kw with restrictive exhaust, fitted 3" thru out and the drivability improved dramatically, unfortunately I didnt dyno it with new exhaust


As for the waterlines, in the past i have taken them from many different places,
I have T'd into the throttle body lines,
T'd into the heater hoses
fitted temp sensor joiners In the hoses and run lines from these,
Made alloy radiator hoses and welded fittings on pipes to suit


In my experience I've found it's not critical were the water comes from

i was thinking of fitting one of those temp sensor adaptors into the top radiator hose and running it off that

From what we were told all Ball Bearing turbos must have water through them no matter what as there is something in the bearing part that is sensitive to temperature.

If you are talking about radiator hoses, if thermostat is closed there is no flow.

I'd be inclined to agree with that from my experience. Have been running a completely different plain bearing non water cooled turbo since then (3 or 4 years ago).
