Those who think there is no skill in NASCAR do not understand NASCAR

The cooler temps in Germany werent switching the tyres on as easily either so RBR wasnt as dominant as usual.

He made far less mistakes than Seb in the race too.

Anyhow, 'crap' is a pretty poor term to use for ANY driver in F1, let alone a multi race winner, and nearly world champion.

Yeap but the big word is Nearly

Maybe not crap, but he certainly doesnt deserve the seat he has IMO

Yip, even Montoya still struggles with going the disatance on ovals, he can be quick in qualifying and early on in the races, but seems he struggles with tweaking the car as the track changes over race disatnces.

I'd love to see half of these NASCAR donkeys in a F-1 car they would'nt last a race distance would'nt be able to handle the 4-5 G's under brakes please oval racing sure it has its place but c'mon guys really vs F-1 c'mon wake me up.

Different sort of fitness and technique I guess.

Like asking a track cyclist to do freestyle BMX.

Don't no about that Cadel Evans was a World Champion Mountain biker and now is the Tour De France winner also has won World titles on the road aswell.

But I do see everyones point though.

I did recall when Scott Dixon tested the Williams F-1 car about 5-6 years ago he even said that he was struggling with the G-Forces under braking.

Different Cars require different skills, Nascar is very very very very very different to F1 cannot be compared both require an equal level of skill its jsut different what is required in each sport.

They actually experience some heavy G's round each corner they go round, which they get quite consistently.

I still find it very dreary to watch in comparison to F1 though.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

I recall a news story about a track that was built years ago, in which the embankment was too steep. All the (Indy) drivers started blacking out during practices due to the excessive g-forces and had to lift off & let their cars run wide to prevent from passing out completely.

That's the one.

Patrick Carpentier went to the medical facility to have his wrist checked. As an aside, he mentioned that he could not walk in a straight line for at least four minutes after he got out of his car. An impromptu survey was taken during the private drivers' meeting and 21 of the 25 drivers in the starting field reported suffering disorientation and vertigo-like symptoms, including inner ear, or vision problems, after running more than 10 laps (or 20 laps). They also claimed that they had had virtually no peripheral vision and limited reaction time. This was due to sustained g-loads as high as 5.5--almost double what most persons can endure, and closer to what jet pilots usually experience in shorter time intervals.

So Gents...

Will RBR be back to their normal winning form once they hit the far hotter track surfaces of Hungary? Same tyre compounds as Germany but with far higher degredation, and lots of marbles I would expect.

RBR were in another league last year, with their flexi wing in full effect, even touching the ground in places, so I would expect them to be very strong, regardless of the improvements made by the other teams.

Looking like it might be a bit cloudy today for FP1 but sunny for the remainder of the weekend so lots of rubber should stay on the track, compared to the last few races with rain making it green again.

Goodluck to Mitch Evans too, very frustrating watching his team get caught out with the tyres at the last race, lets hope he can claw back some of the points that knocked him off the top step.

Ditto for Mitch, be awesome to see him grab the title on his first season of racing Euro tracks. Big thanks to Sky Sport as well, actually showing the second nurburgring race live, followed by the GP2 race live, happy to pay the money if they keep this coverage up, would love even more for a dedicated motorsports channel, that would be heaven!

HUngary, hmmm, usually up there with valencia in the excitement stakes, have heard there is rain forecast for the race (this a couple of days ago mind you), which would make it a lot more interesting.

Gotta love the back to back race weekends!

I would actually consider Sky worth it if they had a dedicated motor sport channel! Seems very very dumb that they have a rugby channel but not a channel dedicated to the most watched sport on TV!

But not the most watched in NZ unfortunately :(

We (and the criminal element across the ditch) live in a nation of rugby heads, always have, always will, so sky will always structure their broadcasts around that fact.

I would gladly pay for a 100% motorsport channel on SKY, currently I have to pay to subscribe to Telstra clear, and then pay again for the sport channels. We should be able to choose as little or as many as we want for our custom made package, not be forced to have 100 channels of shit so they can justify the cost...end rant lol

And also, aren't there more people playing soccer in NZ than rugby? Rugby is over hyped in NZ imo

Yes. And $&#$% yes.
Maybe that will change after the RWC bomb that is coming.

Bet of the year perhaps?
Been thinking about jumping on Betfair and betting on the All Blacks (laying) to lose the world cup.

I remember last world cup, the TAB had an option of AB's vs the World for the world cup winner. Lets just say I made a nice wee profit on that from a $100 bet, I thinkn from memory it paid around $3 for what I was pretty sure was a sure thing!

Hoping they put another one out there!
