those Jamex seats are quite shit, unless they've stepped up their build quality a lot.

when it comes to things like race seats, buy the best you can afford. cheap seats feel like cheap seats when you sit in them for hours, they also react like cheap seats, should/when you crash

Are there any good quality brands which do reclinables? I wouldnt want to be constantly swapping between a road and dedicated race seat for every meeting.

do you need reclinable?

Just keep the factory seat in the passenger side for easy access if required

Its a 5 door so they don't need to be reclinable, I'd just prefer something with a little bit of adjustment if its uncomfortable. Are fixed back seats legal for road use/easily wofable?

+1 for buying quality seats. Ive used Jamex reclinables, a Bride Zeta I and a Zeta III FIA. TBH, the Jamex were uncomfortable, the Zeta I was a piece of shite, but the Zeta IIIs are the most comfortable seats ive ever sat in (better than both my GTR seats and Evo 8 ones)

Not cheap at $1k tho :lol: but ill never buy a cheap seat again.

Pretty certain I've seen Mac state no reclineable Bride seats are FIA approved. Thats how you can tell fake Brides apart as they usually state they are from memory

They're still not legal under MSNZ rules for National level - the manual states fixed back AFAIK.

Still fine for clubsport.



Best luck I've had is buying second hand seats for reasonable prices. My sparco was only $100 when it popped up (in faded red). I had it re-covered and it was good to go.

If it's a road car then make sure you get a well made seat with good padding.

No you wouldn't, however the cost of those rails seemed to be dearer than a cert last I looked.

Ive been quoted $580ish for a cert for prety much everything im planning for the car in the immediate future. If i have to get fixed back seats so be it, ill get them installed at the same time as the engine.

you don't need a cert as long as it is mounted using the factory rails and bolts to the factory points. the line is a bit blurry but i say don't bother wasting money on cert there are more important things to spend money on.

don't even bother with reclinables they just aren't strong enough for motorsport use.

+1 for second hand good quality seats. or get a racetech. the 1000 series seats like mine are pretty affordable and comfortable so you won't need to change for road use. after daily driving my car i feel uncomfortable going back to a normal road car seat they just don't hold you in as well.

Huh? The rail would be about $130 NZ landed. Considering he will need a rail anyway. Why not get one that bolts straight in?

:lol: You should have seen the stock seats ep91's came with, i was having to adjust myself after even slight corners on the road.

Ill keep my eye on trademe for a decent 2nd hand seat in auckland so i can have a test fit and see how comfortable it is.

I have to get a cert anyway for an engine swap so i may as well get the seats done at the same time.

Ill see on the 11th what the scrutineer says about my current seats and go off what he recommends i should do.
