I got a completely clear run through Paekakariki Hill Road heading in the South direction the other week. Not a single car in my direction the entire road until I got to the inlet.

Pity I was in an automatic Hyundai diesel little car of some variety

It works OK on van windows as they are vertical but a car window is too steep so the holes would have to be much bigger to work. But still I don't think you are allowed to cover that much window on a car. It's 100mm top and bottom and 50mm sides right?

Its suprising how many people haven’t been up to Cape Reinga…….the final 20kms is brand new and stunning. But from Awanui just north of Kaitaia all the way up is really amazing scenery, good road (no trucks to ruin it) and bugger all tourist buses.

All I second Napier to Gisborne and then the Waiweka Gorge though to Opotiki. But it pays to do it in a powerful car as overtaking is really hard in anything less than 500hp :P

It's allowed on cars. The mesh is classed as a tint and so the tint laws apply to it.

bzzzt wrong.

It's a sticker and not allowed.

Note 5 Perforated overlays are usually made from printed-on materials. They are therefore not transparent and may be fitted only
where stickers are allowed.

Yeah Leon is correct. Just read that and the way they have done it is illegal!
Unless being a rental car it falls under a different rego category?

They'd probably just give you the option to take the sticker off.

Depends what time you get there...tourist buses arrive at the cape at around midday, so leave Kaitaia before 10 and you'll be fine. Dont think the roads are that great, but the Mangamuka ranges is awesome 8)
