Michael wasnt ever a completely dominant pole man though, tending to qualify in 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th quite often. His strength was strategy during the race to claw back the difference, not to mention stunning laps either side of pit stops to jump the opposition.
Mansell held the record for most laps led in 1992, in the all dominant williams renault of that season. At a guess there would have been 17 races, so I wonder how many laps difference, this seasons calendar has had for the first 17 races, time to get out the calculator.
Its a shame there was a small gap between most of the teams pace last night as the track will lend itself very well to close racing provided the cars are all very similar. Imagine how good a GP2 or GP3 race would have been. I think once next year rolls around, the dust wont be anywhere near as bad and overtaking will be more of an option than it was yesterday.
Poor Massa indeed, very hard done by, and I bet Hamilton was shitting bricks as soon as he hit him, as its the sixth time he has run into him this year, and he would have expected a penalty, I think he got off very lucky this time.
Great race by Mercedes, slowly they are making up time on the front 3 teams during the race. I hope this continues for the last two races and sends them into the xmas break with alot of hope for 2012, Michael made his tyres last exceptionally well and used his KERS to great effect on the first lap, 12 to 5 is almost a victory given the season they have had. I sense great things building there
Oh well... time for Abu Dhabi...and then on to teh legendary Interlagos for the season finale, its always a great race, and the fans are awesome.
