The ones that run them underneath you will still get the same problem when lowering.
When they are run under neath they do that for a reason, so its in line with the bottom arm. So when the arm moves up and down you dont get bump steer. Also the arm is usually moulded in a higher position as well.
Also the ones with the arms upside down will most likely run a diff ackerman angle as well.
There is more wheel choice in 5x100, i've been through this many times.
If your wanting a 8" wide rim they hardly make them in a 4x100, but make them in a 5x100 as mostly the bigger cars run 5x100.
Also you cant covert it to 114.3 as your brake discs wont fit over the drive flanges any more and also there are no drive flanges you can buy that are 114.3 and have the same bearing as the corolla hubs etc.
Also meaning there is not enough meat in the stock 4x100 flanges to make them 4x114.3
Been through all this and had it all worked out what I was going to do
. And I might do it if I cant find a nice 8" rim that fits over by brakes and has the style im after.
