1997 corolla 5 stud conversion

Anyone got any ideas for a 5 stud conversion for a 1997 corolla 5x100.
What hub and etc i should use?

Just buy wheels with the right stud pattern. Sorted.

If it's not that, what reason is it that means you need 5x100?

5x100 is just as limiting for wheels as 4x100 whats the point? 5x114 would be beter. 2wd rav 4 stuff

I'd have though 4x100 would be one of the more common stud patterns

Changing to 5x100 is pretty easy.

You need a front drive flange off any of the 5x100 models cars, pref a FWD version celica/caldina.
And then you need its rear drive flange also, little bit of machining to make it fit and your done :D.

I was going to do this to my car.

why would you change to 5x100?? its got to be almost the gayest option, right up there with 4x100.

5x114.5 would be a better option. heaps of wheel options then. but still going to be cheaper to buy the wheels you want in 4x100 than change for a set of wheels.

If I'm not mistaken the tie rod end attaches to the hub carrier from below not on top like on the corolla's.

I think that's what strx7 is referring to anyway.

The taper on the tie rod end and hub carrier will prevent you doing this to your corolla I think

If your adamant for 5x100, be on the look out for an AT210 Carina GT. Was powered by 4A and has 5x100 hubs.

correct the corolla hubs take the steering tierod in from the top, meaning go to low and you get yuck tie rod angles. some other toyota hubs take the tierods from the bottom meaning you can run that low and your steering angles are still ok. if you pick on the right hubs you dont need to machine a thing

Another option is to remove the hub flanges, knock the studs out, take them to your local engineering place and get them re-drilled.

Except that will probably require welding up a cast part, will be fun certing that.

The ones that run them underneath you will still get the same problem when lowering.

When they are run under neath they do that for a reason, so its in line with the bottom arm. So when the arm moves up and down you dont get bump steer. Also the arm is usually moulded in a higher position as well.

Also the ones with the arms upside down will most likely run a diff ackerman angle as well.

There is more wheel choice in 5x100, i've been through this many times.
If your wanting a 8" wide rim they hardly make them in a 4x100, but make them in a 5x100 as mostly the bigger cars run 5x100.

Also you cant covert it to 114.3 as your brake discs wont fit over the drive flanges any more and also there are no drive flanges you can buy that are 114.3 and have the same bearing as the corolla hubs etc.
Also meaning there is not enough meat in the stock 4x100 flanges to make them 4x114.3

Been through all this and had it all worked out what I was going to do :D. And I might do it if I cant find a nice 8" rim that fits over by brakes and has the style im after.

I have a set of 4 1997 Carina GT hubs with disic and caliper which got a blacktop engine.
Will the hub straight bolt on to my corolla.
I want to fit volk te37 17s and 18s or ssr type c
To get these in 17s 4x100 is hard to find
Thats why i wanna go 5x100 always want to do something different

Front drive flanges will fit.

You will prob need new wheel bearings once you pull the 4x100 drive flange out.

The rears do need some slight mods, you will only find out once you put them side by side to see what needs doing.

there is a pretty good chance the entire front hub will bolt straight on. i know st170 corona 5x100's do.
