M&H Drag Tyres - How much interest is there?

We have the opportunity to supply M&H drag tyres.
I know quite a few Honda/Mazda guys running their racemaster streets in the 205/60-13, 235/60-14, 215/65-15 & 235/60-15.

Personally i've used the 'cheater slick' which was an awesome tyre.

What kind of interest would there be for their range of drag tyres amongst you Toyota guys?

I could put together a group buy if we have some numbers which would get you awesome pricing.

I believe people use the radials on the street all the time.
So they must be street legal - They have the correct DOT rating, they have tread across the whole tyre and its a radial.

Thanks Barry, I thought that would be the case.

Unfortunately drag radials and the supra's IRS have proven to be a troublesome combination, inducing much wheel hop and shock loading. :((

I think thats more to do with suspension setup rather than tyre.

how are these sorts of tyres like for corners?
Strictly a straight line sort of tyre?

Generally they are no good for corners, they have alot of sidewall flex.

Absolutely correct. JZA80's are notorious for wheel hop with almost all tyres. Apologies if my original post inferred it was in any way a tyre issue, as that wasnt my intention.

Not intended for awesome cornering. Soft sidewalls.
More for straight line traction only.

As for wheel hop on the supra - All the supras I raced with used tyres of this type and I didnt see them get wheel hop. They were pulling awesome 60ft times!

would the street ones be any better for using on the street? or really just a tyre for racing in street class?

More for driving to the strip.

They are soft compound so would wear fast on the road.

In saying that, alot of the street legal muscle cars and hot rods run on these even when they go for a weekend cruise.

all good. just trying to decide if i should continue to run the 17x8, 17x9 combo on the ma61, or switch back to 15s with a wide slick type tyre like this.
