4AGE turbo piston ring gaps

what gaps should i be looking for when adjusting the piston rings on a 4AGE turbo? looking at about 15psi max id say, but potential for more.

Compression rings?
Stuff them into your honed bore (with a touch'o'oil) find out what the end gap clearance is supposed to be (0.03-0.07mm for a 1g, iirc) stick a feeler gauge in there and go 'aw yea'.

Don't see why the gap would change from factory spec?

while you could argue that running boost could lead to potentially higher temps in the the bore.. leading to metal rings wanting to expand more due to said heat.. the maths involved are just plain boring.

So I suggest looking at the end gaps on 4agze and see how much of a sh!t toyota gave about the issue and go from there 8)

Think you have your decimal point in the wrong place. .012"-.016" or 0.3-0.4mm is about right

I'd set them to the factory specs for the pistons you are using.

Most likely, can't measure the kind of clearance i was talking about well unless you use plasti, heh.

vert, make sure you check the ring sizes, found that toyota changed the top compression ring thickness by a few thou between gens on the 1g, so possibility of the same thing happening on the 4a.

You could be right there. The guy who built up my ST for me used a Mitsi ringset as there was too much ring land clearance with the Toyota ST ones.
