Ma70 diff Question

The dIff in my ma70 is rather loose these days, is it a matter of just reshimming it or is it something else? The only response I got from my flatmate was "chuck a Lockie in it g"

Take it to steelie gears in Otahuhu. He will skim the clutch plates to remove glazing, check all the bearings and put uprated springs in for the clutch plates so it'll be nice and tight.

Had the one in our old MA70 done by him, awesome work and well priced.

They are easy as hell to rebuild yourself, Ive done many, bead-blast clutch packs and put a nice shim in there

As long as there's no wining etc from toasted bearings, rebuilding the lsd side is easy

I second taking it to steelie gears. He is cheap and good. However, he isnt a big fan of working on Japanese stuff, so you might be waiting awhile to get it done.

Limbo and I had a talk to him about redoing the diff in his Mark 3 turbo A, Limbo's diff has the same sort of issues you are talking about, and he seemed to think he could fix it up better than new. Nice and tight.

will never be as good as a proper lsd though, trd or some other aftermarket center in it, if you want it to work nicely

shim the factory ones up enough to work good, will be just like a "lockie" as your flatmate suggests. factory ones dont have ramps
