Custom made head gaskets

Postby Crown » Fri Jan 27, 2012 10:49 am

Can anyone advise where to get a head gasket made?

I was just going to take an old one to Prometal and have it laser cut out of 1.2mm copper but they need a cad file for that which would make it a very costly exercise.

Cheers

Make your own DXF file if you think your measuring skills are up to it. Download any free 2D cad package that can export DXF and draw it, then send them the file. One Stop cutting shop in auckland are excellent to deal with, we send a lot of work their way.

Decreasing compression for boosted applications is the common reason for a 1.2mm copper gasket.

This actually a misleading application, as decreasing compression by thicker head gasket does not reduce detonation as much as people think (in some cases it makes it worse).

If the block and head was skimmed, you might want to use thicker head gasket.
