Yeah it does look like an adaptor...didnt know they made them for LinkPlus. Definitely looks like the standard ECU plugs are going into it though

Just got told thats theres a couple of versions of the link plus, one you must use a hand controller to tune 8O and one a laptop..

I dont suppose any one can tell the difference from the photo?

If its the hand controller version. Will be straight on TM $1 reserve, swapping for a G4.

If that is definitely an Adaptalink then the ECU is laptop tunable. Adaptalinks were only used on G3's which are all Laptop Tunable. The last hand controller only ECU was the G1 Version 3.

The sticker that you can see on the side beside the tuning port will have version numbers on it.

Probably something like LPV14 or similar.

post them up when you get it and we will be able to tell you what it is and if it is laptop tuneable or not.

99% of the linkplus ecu's were.

thanks ionic and matt!

looking at this website then

http://www.linkecu.com/products/engine- ... escription

It probably is a link g3.

On that note, ill porbably be getting speedtech to tune it (after i save a million dollars ha!)

Am i missing any thing important from a g4 by going g3?

Ill be running a 3sgte with a basic t3t4 setup.

Fuel pump, injectors etc etc are to be desided upon building engine.

isnt a g3. its either a g1 or possibly a g2(not very common) as the used same case, but from memory they had a serial plug? not the ribbon style. moneys on a g1. as matt says the sicker on the end will tell you what it is.
should be laptop tuneable being a linkplus though.

you could get those loom adaptor things for the early g1 links.

Correct, it will be a G1 definatly,
as I have done a fair bit with a Linkplug G2 and they do have a serial plug,
not the one in the picture.

So runs the oldest software, and is not upgradeable, but will be laptop compatable.

Hmm, Matt Dunn, I believe your Mr. Experience.

For a basic gen 2 3sgte t3t4 setup, with standered internals (bar gen 3 cams, ARP headstuds and a steal gasket), plus what ever fuel upgrades i need. On a daily street car, will the g1 sufice, or am i missing out on some thing special with a g4. I am rather new to this side of things. Bearing in mind, I will be getting speedtech to tune the ecu.

Best thing to do is always ask the person that will be doing the tune.

will be fine. was running 11's in my old gt starlet, using G1 link plus (v14) drove pretty much spot on, on the road also.
speedtech will probably have a cry and try sell you a g4. but the ecu will run it fine even though its older tech..
