1998 GTT Caldina issue

Postby Nzpure » Mon Mar 12, 2012 5:51 pm

Ok so my VSC light comes on and stays on intermettenly,
Took it to toyota to get the codes checked.
No codes everything seems fine he seemed to think it was the tyres over inflated so he dropped the pressure to about 30 psi i believe.
Still comeing and going.
Any idea's?

Vehicle stability control.

Use of a different sized tyre (ie space saver) throws codes

Crazy. Guessing not all Caldina's have this. Pretty sure our '98 GTT doesn't!

I think there was a thread on it ages ago: could be a speed sensor on one of the wheels, steering rack sensor, it's wired itno your brakes etc.

Are you sure Toyota actually checked for codes? I say this because I took my car to Albany Toyota twice with a fault, both times they told me they hooked it up to the scanner and it was a total load of shit. When I checked myself it threw two codes relating to the two faults I told them about.

^^ Just to be sure you can check for codes yourself:

To run diagnostics just locate the OBDII connector close to the drivers door and by the little compartment where your right knee is when sitting in the drivers seat.

Bridge TC & CG and turn on the ignition. Count the engine flashes then google them to see if there are any issues.

I think that just checks ABS codes, to check TRC/VSC codes you need to bridge TS(Pin 14) and CG(Pin 4)
