20 valve blacktop ecu. Manual or auto

Postby point2 » Thu Mar 15, 2012 7:07 pm

Hi all

I have purchased a AE82 with a silver top 20v
It came with a bunch is spares including 2 blacktops and enough to build another silver top.

In the interim while I build one good BT /ST hybrid donk, I want to run the ST on ITB's without the AFM.

I am to collect a BT loom this weekend along with a BT auto ecu.
Note I also have a manual BT ecu that came as part of spares collection.

My question is this.

On the auto ecu What do you do to pin 22 on the 22 pin plug that is NSW?
Neutral start switch
Do you need to trick this setting?
I'm told auto revs to 8200 where manual Revs to 7800

Is the above accurate info?

Could have would have should have searched for more info, but feel it easier to ask those in the know.

Cheers

Mike c

On the contrary, a quick use of the search function is easier than writing a post. Also a lot quicker but each to their own. All covered many many times. Try a search and see what you find

Ok, well that's good news.
Are all ecus the same. All manuals have the same maps?

Mine seems to be running rich at moment under full load, so am wondering if blacktop ITB's have already been added.

As another question, what are others getting from a tank of gas on a ST motor
My tank is 45 litres and I'm getting about 400-450ks
So 10l per 100ks

All I've read is that an auto blacktop ECU will idle higher than a manual ECU with a manual box...never seen proof of this though.
Silvertops do run pretty rich, but 10l/100k is pretty rough...I tend to get 500ish k's to 45l combined town/open road. Is the o2 sensor hooked up?

I get that mileage and the car spends most of it's life warming up  . So to be expected. Get much better on long trips. So if it's short trips it's probably about right.
