Well as I said its what it looks like to someone on the outside, who enjoys watching motorsport, but doesn't care too much about the whole behind the scenes stuff.

its like politics, perception soon equals reality, and the current perception amongst people I know, and even the casual motorsport watcher think that the NZV8ST's are the new NZ V8 class, and that the others are old. Only have to watch the train of less than 10 NZV8's on TV to see the impression that the public get.

The average guy on the street, has say $50 to spend on motorsport, and can pay it to see the likes of Murphy racing in a newer car with biggish fields of close racing, or they can spend it on the NZV8's with less than 10 cars, with lesser driver appeal, and what to the public seem to be older cars.

But hey lets leave motorsports to the experts to argue over aye, because that seems to be working out so well just now...
And while we're at it lets just leave politics to the experts too :roll:

None of changes the fact its completely wrong.
Don't worry, it will all be sorted out soon. Especially when it's realised NZ public don't like standing around race tracks in winter :?

Will be more than 10 NZV8s running. With at least 3 makers all running their own engines. And there will be no men stuck in boots :wink:

Wow New Zealand is big enough to support two full V8 touring car championships geeze money isn't in short supply

Id prefer if Toyota were to have upgrade the TRS cars to a V6 and new chassie rather than this though perosnally

I say Toyota drop out of V8 racing and go back to what you do well.
TOYOTA COROLLA WRC!

WRC is much more fun to watch and the cars are cooler.

followed his antics from the Tranzam days 20+ years ago, he ain't improved any.


Yeah, he's been a law unto himself for as long as I've known there were rules and that people liked to "massage" those rules.

One year, the fees on *every* competition licence issued had to go up by $5, purely to cover money spent on lawyers, to fight his lawyers.

That's *one* guy, causing the entire cost of racing to go up, singlehandedly.

Actually to be honest I think the BNT V8s are just a pile of shite as a car the people that looked after my car used to look after a certain competitors car and to be honest looking at the cars from there bare bones they are as above a pile of shite.

The people who i also mentioned suggested over 4 years ago now talked about aligning themselves with V8SC why not just run Fujitsu series cars in a series here they are just a step down from V8 SC but he got laughed at by the organiser of the time huis excuse was they were to expensive and what not.

To be fair I think those STer's are a good reliable racecar and in the dry round Manfield I'm guessing a high 6 definitely a 7 those other sh*t boxes battle to do a 12 or a 13 just not in the same league.

You are confusing a few things there. The NZV8s you are talking are old cars being replaced next season. Aussie development cars are waaaay to much $$ for here.
Are you aware of the STs reliability?

Check out the new V8 details, rather different than the old ones

the old V8's are simple as a rock, and not designed to be anything else. They are basically the same as they were introduced lord knows how many years ago when they were "Transam Lites"

Four speed, locked diff, carby.

Nobody is pretending that the old ones are anything fast or pretty. They're a control class, designed to

1) Provide close racing in lap times
2) Be relatively easy to police when it comes to locating cheat bits
3) Be able to be marketed to Ford + Holden fans, to put seats in bums.

Sadly, and probably sensibly, Toyota will only race where it can see a marketing opportunity. Hence the move back to endurance with the TS030, plugging hybrid etc

According to the people I've talked to there are warehouse's full of those Fujitsu cars and can be had for a pretty resonable price.

A big problem with some of the parts used on the old BNT V8's were yes they were cheaper but didn't last as long ie Wilwood callipers my guys told me there car used 4 sets of these callipers per season.He then hit the organiser up of that series saying we should just use V8 SC brakes yes sure there three times the price but we only have to replace them once every 2 years again he got laughed at and the BS excuse of expense came up again but again i think also politics played a huge part.

The Sters are engineered by the same people who are engineering the COTF V8SC's in Aus Paul Cerphnich Engineering excuse the spelling.

Given that its only one team having engine drama's not sure that prooves they're unreliable. Especially since its a new catagory etc. Are you 100% sure that the NZV8's won't have any problems out of the box?
In fact I'm not sure I've ever heard of a race car 100% perfect out of the box.

If we used that sort of logic, we'd say NZ racing teams are unreliable after the TKR disaster.
Hell even using that logic Toyotas are unreliable, as they sometimes have problems.
