Mr2 turbo boost problem

Postby headshotnz » Sat May 26, 2012 10:57 am

Trying to figure out some problems.

Spec:

CT20b
Standered injectors
Blitz ECU
3 inch downpipe
rebuilt engine

The rest is standered.

The blitz ecu it was running 17 psi, one day i woke up and it was only running 9psi.

Spool time hasn't changed, its very consistent all the way too redline.

I cant hear any boost looks.

and vacuum is at normal 20ish at idle.

Any suggestions would be awesome.

If it means any thing there is also large amounts of blowby, (oil coming out of the intake)

Hmmm, no responses eh.

Well, I am super noob, but I could give it a go.

have you got a boost controller? could it have failed? Doesnt the CT20B have like a 10PSI internal wastegates spring?

Just a thought.

Cheers

limp mode brah.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

No boost controller, its controlled by the blitz.

I assume the wastegate has a 10psi spring, but as i said it was running 17 psi comfortably.

Limp mode really??

Dont get me wrong I'm not arguing ill check the ecu for codes, but wouldn't the car be alot less drivable? Iv been driving it too work for the last 3 weeks and its been like this for 5 weeks now.

Limp mode reduces boost via t-vsv. Car is still drivable, just has bugger all timing and bugger all boost

Rightio cheers for that.

So best idea would be too put it in diag mode and see what codes it pulls?

Its probably the AFM lol.. lucky I have a spare.

ill be checking the limp mode.

Does any one know how to tell if the wastegate is stuck open, or what the symtoms would be.

How the hell am i going to be able too find a wastegate for a ct20b. omg.

It's probably knock. Those Blitz access ECU's aren't tuned for NZ fuel. Symptom of waste gate stuck completely open is no boost. Partially open is very little boost and massive lag.

43 starter motor signal
31 AFM signal
21 O2 sensor
24 Intake air temp

Sounds like your AFM is bung or not plugged in.

I assume your talking about one of two thats at the top of the WG one pipe goes back too the turbo the other goes under the water neck.

But yeah mate they look in good condition.

Its probably been knocking and pulling timing, Maybe reset the ECU and see how it goes.
Really, you need to get that boost under control, it wont last on 17psi
