Built in New Zealand by Toyota trained engineers

It was looking good right up until I read that...

I went to a toyota service centre twice thinking I would get a better service than a standard garage - Both times the monkey working on my car damaged them jacking them up and did everything up way too tight. Also forgot to do a couple of things I asked for.

I'd just ask for them to give me the trd bit's and i'll do it, at least then I know its done right - not that they would ever allow that.

I thought they got built at Thames, but this album suggests that it was built in Palmerston North? Either way, it's at TNZ, not your local dealership.

Don't think I can share any of the footage thou, R18.
Maybe some but will have to edit out all the junk.
Yes I know it's been long overdue some of my in car footage from other events, but the first video is really hard to beat.
If I find the time I'll put some of the Targa stages from Bambina 2011 up from around coromandel.

Yes please! I love that stage, we did it in 2011 on road tyres and it was crap, did it again this year on semi slicks and wow, so much fun.. still not as good as Whangamomona.

Would be great to see the GT86 action too, was it on the track?? The dealer I have spoken with said he was going on a drive day there. Must be an exciting time for the Toyota dealers who are used to selling vans, utes and cars that resemble kitchen fridges!

Looks like a fun day out... they should have filmed it on the extended track at Manfield, now that would be fun in a GT86, I even got FWD doing bigger drifts that those guys chasing a new RX8 and Porsche Cayman R on the off camber back track, so much fun!!

From all I have seen it still looks a bit under powered and getting it to slide nicely takes some brave coercion, much more than you would want to do on a road... that's probably a good thing.

It may not need too much more power, 180-200kw and some good low down torque would be great, I wonder how hard it would be to fit a WRX engine (the 2.0 not the 2.5, the 2.5 is not the one you want) to it, have seen a few Turbo and Supercharger kits cumming out in America already.

I remember reading that they planned on making it so an EJ20 Turbo engine could bolt straight up without modification.

^ i seen that the engine is different dimensions to a EJ20 so as to fit under the bonnet (height wise) anything is possible however

^^ I doubt Toyota completely redesigned it themselves. The 4U-GSE is just a FA20 Subaru engine, which is derived from the current FB20 engine. Toyota developed the D4 direct injection system and I think even specified that it needed a square 86x86 bore/stroke but other than that I am pretty sure Toyota didn't have any more of a hand developing it.

The FA20 is also used in other Subaru models.
