Postby Shrike » Fri Sep 07, 2012 10:43 am

I did a quick search both on here and google

Didnt really tell me much

Thought I would make a thread seeing as a few 7a/9a builds may be coming up :p

Just wanting to know if theres any differences between the different generation 7afe blocks

Cheers
Why dream it when you can live it

some are multi coil and have a crank angle sensor in the oil pump,
so are dist and do not,

You dont use the oil pump anyway, so dont worry about that,
and have never struck a difference between any of the actual blocks I have had.

Piggy back question, are 7a/9a blocks dimensionaly the same in crank location as a 4age block?

As, Im designing a crank gurdle for the 4age. It would be nice if this could be used on these blocks as well

You mean 4a block same as 7a block.
No such thing as a 9a block.

Yes they are the same. If your doing a crank girdle it needs to attach to all the sump bolts make it a really good design!

Yea, was looking at a waterjet cut 12mm-15mm thick plate that sat around the base of the block with ribs running over the main caps. The sump would have to be shortened by the same amount to keep it at stock height. New holes would have to be drilled and tapped so the gurlde is fastened to the sides of the block

The headache is that the caps sit 10.5mm below the sides of the block. Going to a longer stud is nessasary but trying to fasten the cap is proving difficult.
