V8SC News - SBR to become a Merc team in 2013
See V8SC have finally gotten their much longed after 4th Manufacturer, with SBR/Erebus becomming a Mercedes outfit from next year.

Going to run an E class, not the C class as has previously been rumoured.
Funny I was just looking at the E class last night and wondering if that wouldn't be a better bet than a C class. Looks a bit more muscular, and of course has the badge on a pole, being easier to distinguish from the others than perhaps a C class would be.
Would have loved to see a CLS or a S class though. Just to be as different as possible.

Yeah I saw that too, but another thing I read said AMG have been building a V8SC spec engine for the last few months ( I imagine sleeving down the 5.5l AMG engine).
But who knows, it'll all be rumours till they turn up on the first test day, or V8SC release the specs.

Apparently
Yeah this has been stated in several releases. Except its the SLS engine sleeved down to 5L
Interestingly Merc oz were against it and have nothing to do with it.
It's all via Erebus and their friendship with AMG. Would appear that after MB oz said "no" Norbert Haug and AMG HQ said "Um actually, yes"
is a good thing. How long before Toyota jump on board. I do hope the NZV8 Camry jump starts the idea
I only hope Toyota jump in if they get in with the right team.If they could some how align themselves with Roland Dane and the Vodafone oufit I'm all for it but if they go with someone like Paul Morris and Supercheap I'd be saying h$LL no don't go I think to maximise the oppourtunityand brand they have to get in with a credible team.

The COTF regs will definitely bring the field closer together, so hopefully the parity will be even better than it is now.
While the top teams will still be the top teams, it certainly gives the others a far greater chance of falling into a win with the new format.
Cant wait for next season to start, with the AMG and Nissan entries, but to have the camry up their too would be something special
Bathurst in a couple of weeks will be the final hurrah for the purists, but Im sure the sport is going to only grow with the new regs

Yeah, local speedway guys have been de-stroking the VK56 motor and have said that it's like a modern incarnation of a Ford DFV V8.

E63 uses the same block/heads as the SLS anyway.
E-class makes much more sense as the C-class is closer to supertourer size.

you sure it's the VK56 ?? plenty of stockcar guys have downsized the VH?44, but taking over 1.6l off the VK56 motor would take some doing, 200cc per pot !!

Yip, I'm sure. Brian Hartley is the one building them and they'll keep making power over 9000rpm. AFAIK they've had custom cranks made to de-stroke them. Not sure if they've done sleeves or not, but he's said that the heads are a work of art.

no bloorry wonder the top superstock engines are spendy if they are now using the VK motor, as the VH45 was dear enough to drop down under 4l.
