13B turbo could be an option, they'd likely be in the right price range.
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time

5-6T pulled along by anything smaller than a 4L would be asking for troubles.
if a 6 cylinder can be fitted i'd be thinking TD42 / 1HD/ 6JB1

originally built with a panhard model 3 hd 1.9l flat 4, comp 7:1 max power 90hp. Then in 1961 upgraded to a peugoet 4cyl oil burning lump, and in 1982 upgraded again with the turbo version making 110hp. If it can manage with a flat 4 petrol it can manage with a 4cyl turbo desiel. The issue is the engine bay, its tiny and french.

The owner wants it working. Restored the electrics, interior, exterior but the peugoet engine died. Not many if any 505 hdti sold here.
