4age silvertop running rough

So i have put a second hand engine into the missis old mans ae101 levin as he managed to drown the last one by driving through a flooded stream at night, didnt see the water and SPLASH sucked in a shite load of water.

Anyway we bought a second hand motor ive just finished putting it in, did cambelt and a few seals in it, i have double checked the cam timing so im 99.9% sure that is sweet. The new motor didnt come with a dizzy so we used the one off the old motor, i have it set to where i think it should be, set the motor at TDC on number one and checked the point on the dizzy is pointing at number one spark plug lead which it is.

Is there anything i am missing??
The engine just wont seem to idle smooth and it is running very rich, could i maybe have a vacuum lead somewhere around the wrong way or anything? Im getting stuck for ideas

for what its worth i think any vac leak i had on my blacktop would make it idle too high but not rough, silvertop might be different though, and i assume youve turned the dizzy back and forth to try and make it stable

perhaps a line is clogged, if its anything like a 111 theres one coming from the idle speed controller on the gearbox side under the 4th throttle body going into the plenum thats where it it gets the idle air from, maybe check that its not kinked or clogged.

assuming its an airflow thing if its running rich

Turned out to be air flow meter bunged up from all the water going through it, not sure why i didnt check that sooner :roll:

Yeah 100kph over a slight crest of a hill straight into a flooded stream :roll:

i was surprised at how much water had got in, the intake was full of water when we pulled it apart, didnt help that it had a sweet pod filter i guess aswell :lol:
