Watched the GTR episode - didn't realise Nissan's head is such a celebrity. Cool series too (you can find full length episodes on youtube).

My 2c - I don't like the way cars high performance are going; that is all the electronics and sequential gearboxes. I know it makes cars 'faster' for a variety of reasons, but I think it's taking the fun and skill out of driving.
I think Toyota's on the right track with the GT86 -> hopefully a full blown performance car will come out along the same lines.

I agree. I haven't driven many fast cars so I'm sure a GT-R would be an amazing drive but it is all too computerized. I like to be able to drive a car without help from computers controlling the way it drives.

Its also important to bare in mind that the current 2012 gtr is a very different beast to the 2008 one

How do you figure that???

The Nurburgring has every corner known to man but the 2012 GTR can't match it there so where you get this destroyed it line from is what I don't get.

The ring is a track I would consider "high speed" if you put them both on tsukuba I am betting the GTR would come out substantially ahead.

I am basing this on what I have seen in comparisons of the GTR vs other cars such as GT2 etc and the LFA vs those same cars.

I think you may find the Ring is a mixture of everything hence why alot of automakers test there it has very high speed and very low speed sections of the track in its 20+ km lap,170 odd corners I believe.

Of course this means absolutely nothing unless it actually happens. Would be interesting to see, but I'm not convinced and I doubt I will be proved wrong. What is more likely is someone might put slicks on them then go REALLY quick, which I would love to see.

They have already put slicks on it with the Nurburgring 24 hour car unfortunately they do the North Loop which is a 25 km lap so it would'nt count.

But proof is in the pudding though right I mean the GTR changed to a stickier Dunlop semi from that Bridgestone tyre so why would the result be any different if the NE LFA did the same.

My common sense tells me with thoses Michelins or a stickier tyre than what Bridgestone have offered the writing is on the wall here of course they'll be quicker.

im not involved in car design but i suspect all the so-called electronic nannies are something only people who havent driven the cars complain about.

it seems like an inevitable response to the never ending arms race on peak power numbers, letting joe public loose on public roads with 500kw+ super cars is a recipe for disaster.

from what i've seen most of the super car makers software tricks only intervene when they have to, so you can still feel like an amazing driver hanging the back out on your ferrari without so much risk of spinning it 13 times and taking out a school bus.

i have had the chance to drive a number of 5 litre supercharged V8 range rover sports, which while hardly a super car do put out 500ps. they are pretty mental, and you can do some pretty silly things with wheel spin before the traction control takes over.

they are also full of lots of fancy active suspension tricks to get them to drive more like a car, which means they handle quite well. even when you can tell its working, i've never been like 'aww i wish this dumb thing would let me understeer / oversteer into a kerb' it just makes you feel like a playah for your mad cornering skills etc.

(range rovers in question take 9 minutes to get round the ring, hah)

Much like what the GTR is doing the LFA has done hence why they to have entered this race to speed up the R & D and progression of this car.The LFA has basically the same mods as per the class it runs in SP8.The LFA may look like a race car but it isn't it runs a revised aero package detuned engine 491 HP or less than 500ps via restrictors and is also rev limited to 7500 rpm and weighs pretty close to the factory weight 1450 KG as per class rule.

End of the day the LFA runs in a factory class much like the GTR.

The biggest mod on this car are 330 wide slicks on all 4 corners hence the wider fenders it runs front and rear.

The LFA making another run at the Nurburgring 24 hour.

Alot of little aero changes on the car I think the most notable are around the rear end and on the intakes to the radiator round the rear glass.

Also an interesting looking GT86 in the below pics suggest an upcoming model maybe in the works out of TMC.

Just found some old VLN footage with the LFA from 2011.

You wanna see how dangerous this track is check out at about the 24 min mark as he's carving through traffic,I was like F**K me at well over 200+ kph.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4t8hCcFYFk.

Its a bit long but its great footage.

The most impressive thing to me is the chasiss the car is so controllable it carries so much speed to the mid corner I noticed this when its chasing down the Porsche's which are pretty quick cars also.Throw in the fact its a demon on the brakes aswell I notice his braking point off the long straight before the start finish is late as f**K also and thats from about almost 290 odd kph.

Checkout the cowboy driving at the 51 min mark hahahaha..
