Reflective Gold foil (heat shield)
I found this type of item quite hard to source in NZ at the temperature rating needed for engine bays. Lots of items sold without adhesive which make it difficult to install.
This product made in USA comes with adhesive! making it REALLY easy for installations.

Image

For many years aeronautical agencies like NASA have used heat reflective gold foil on satellites and various space crafts. Our sourced foil is actually made of 22k gold. capable of reflecting 78% of all radiant heat with continuous operating temperatures of 450 degrees centigrade. The material is metalized polyamide polymer laminated glass cloth with a high temperature pressure sensitive adhesive.

Typical applications include but are not limited to, intercooler pipes, intercoolers, intakes, airboxes, engine covers, coilovers, under trays/floors, seat bottoms, fire walls and bulkheads. The minimum air gap to heat source is just 1mm!

CONSTRUCTION: Metallized polyimide film laminated to glass cloth with high temperature acrylic adhesive protected by a release liner.

FEATURES: Excellent heat reflective characteristics and is easy to install. Withstands 675°F of radiant heat for a minimum of 8 hours

Size: 600mm x 300mm (each sheet)
Price: $65 incl GST

Hi Barry, so this stuff has "easy peel" self adhesive backing ala double sided tape? Looks like it would work a treat on my R32.

Thanks

I'm going to need two sheets of this when I drop my engine.
Should be in a couple of weeks when I feel like paying attention to the car again

You wouldn't have this type of thing but in tubing? For using on water feeds close to headers etc.

I used this weird stuff for a couple of hard brake lines that run close to my waste gate. It's orange and the inside is fluffy. I'll try and get a pic tonight. Apparently it's the shiz.

The orange stuff is not the shiz sorry lol.
I thought it was, put it over my oil lines near the turbo. Did a track day and all my oil lines near the turbo went rock hard!! and even started to burn. The Orange stuff doesnt reflect heat thats the problem.

So I went and got Fyre Foil from USA and this stuff is the shiz! just damn hard to find in NZ.
Id consider bringing it into NZ if people wanted some..

Here is some I found doing a google search:
