Bootlid not popping

Got a JZX90 Mark II with a stuck boot. what the f**k. Well, I put a couple wheels in the boot, went home. Went to take them back out and when I went to pop the boot it... didn't. I hopped out and tried using the key to open it and it didn't open it either. Have no clue how to get it open... Absolutly stumped.

Any boot professionals? Any help is appreciated!

must have a broken connecting rod thingy off the handle or broken handle on the inside. my van just did this, but at least i can climb in the back of the van, remove rear mould and operate the complex pulley system by hand. any chance you are able to do something like this to at least get it open?

Seats don't fold back. Even if they did.. everythings all closed off. My guess was that the wheels are up against the.... stuff that opens the boot and are holding it all in one place, cause usually when you pull the tab thing in the car it has kind of resistance but when I pull it it just flaps up and down quite happily. The same when turning the key.

So you need to move the wheels in the boot while the boot is closed?
Drive over some speed bumps way too fast.
Orrrrr, jack one side of the car up REALLY fecking high.
Orrr do some sharp turns.
Or do some hand brake turns.
Emergency stops! :D :D

But then again, the lock might just be broken :lol:

Try pushing down on the boot lid a bit when you turn the key.....

hahah you think much like a mate of mine, his first idea was to swing some o's. do some rowdy skids and hopefully that'll fix it. can't say i've tried yet, tried super hard braking and some more than dangerous turning and havent heard them even budge. though going over some speed bumps sounds good. probably wont work cause the suspension is softer than... alot of things i can think of.

I have come across this in my cressida and mr2. you turn the key in the boot one way and it opens the boot, Turn it the other way and it locks the boot and disconnects the lever inside. my problem was I almost never use the key and it got pretty stuck in the lock position.

Possible yours has done the same?

yeah, gave that a go, tried pulling the boot really hard with another person in the car trying to open it, tried closing it pushing down on it with key turned etc etc.

like I said in first post, completely stumped.

Then it should be able to be opened from inside right? But.. in saying that, the key and lock still turn very freely but turning it neither way does anything, I assume turning it left locks it as it goes 180 deg sideway, turning it right only lets it go half of that.

Still keeping in mind that the boot stopped working within a 20min drive home after putting the wheels in the boot..

when it's locked with the key thats it, the only way to open it again is with the key.

I just went and checked. when it is locked the key comes out horizontal so its pretty obvious if it's locked. Sounds like you might be pulling the back seat out..

Some Toyotas have the fuel tank behind the back seat for added lols.

This thread made me laugh (sorry drift-monkey).

Sounds like removing the rear seats sounds like your best option. I don't think the Mk2's had tanks behind the seats.

Reminds me of when my fuel cap cable broke (with absolutely no petrol in the car to get home) and when someone tried to break into my friends familia and ruined both locks (had to open the door via the boot - pre alarm days).

Hahahahah this thing is so fxxking annoying hoooly. I don't even know what to do now. Suspension is too soft in the back.. was driving off of curbs and I didn't feel a thing.. Sigh. Guess the wheels are staying in the boot then.
