Temporary set ups = far more likely to have failures like this due to set up irregularities.

Im always astounded by the lax attitude most people have to standing near a car on a dyno. A tyre delaminating at 200+ kph isnt something to be sniffed at.

?Bearing failure, rotor hits induction coils (sparks), bearing or rotor siezes/jambs, intertia of rollers rips frame apart?

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

When I first watched it, I thought the car must be tied down too tight, sounded like the tyres howling on the rollers under massive force. Could be the case, but I could also be talking shite.

could possibly be that tie down on the other side of the car lets go too. dyno gets spat out the back and by the end you can see the whole thing beside the car

One of the reasons i'm a huge fan of hub dynos rather than rolling roads.

Would be great if there was a way of finding out what happened there, I am fascinated and a bit concerned by the whole thing. I wonder what would have happened if something feel into the rollers while they were spinning at that speed? Like something that might give the Mustang some purchase to actually try and move, then wedge into the rollers etc?

Im with you there, Lith.

Im guessing that as it appeared to be a temporary set up, the unit wasnt secured to the ground as rigorously as it would be had it been a permanent install in a workshop.

It would only take one side of the dyno to bind up slightly, for it to all go horribly wrong. It could have been something as simple as one side of the roller not having been adequately lubricated before the run.

Either way, all this clip does is strongly reaffirms to me why I dont stand near cars when theyre on the dyno.

Not sure if cameraman is brave, or stupid?

There's a fine line between bravery and stupidity. I think the cameraman was standing on it at the time.

Maybe this could be an inspired idea for a new TV programme?

Dyno chasers?

When dynos go bad?

Dyno-saw-us?

Im sure MTV would be keen to buy a few seasons worth, in advance ;)

Look at the dudes on the other side of the dyno just before it craps out, one of them points at something and they both start walking away. I'm guessing one of the tie downs is coming loose/breaking or the dyno is starting to move.

There was a spark inside the unit just before it all went pear shaped. I'm guessing some sort of physical malfunction.
