When I bought my 97 Camry wagon, although it was the povo spec base model, it luckily came with the factory alarm with keyring fob, so it can be locked/unlocked remotely etc.
A few years down the track, it started playing up, and stopped working entirely. Upon inspection, it was found that the wires going into the rear hatch had worn over time due to the opening/closing of the hatch, and a couple of wires had snapped and shorted out.
After fixing all of the wiring, the factory locking still didnt work, so I pulled apart the dash and removed the "computer integration relay" Part# 82641 YCO21, and discovered there was a cooked component on the board.
I went to a wrecker and bought one from another camry wagon and fitted it, but still no dice.
I wasnt able to confirm whether or not the wrecked car actually had the factory security system installed, so my question is, id there a difference between the part for models that did/didnt get the factory alarm, or have I potentially burned out something somewhere else?
Mark, is this something you could look up on your EPC files, perhaps?
Thanks for any help
