How much does a turbo weigh?

Thinking about bringing a turbo back from Oz in a few months and wondering how much a turbo weighs? I just don't happen to have one lying about to weigh atm. If its <10kg I figure I can take some older clothing and ditch it before I fly back to save AUD$120 in excess baggage thievery.
Reality: A nasty hallucination that is caused by excess blood in the alcohol stream.

Will depend on turbo, the one I took off the car is lots lighter than the new one

VGT turbo from a 600 signature is about 50kg (at a guess)

So your 60-1 which the turbonetics website says is 15-20lbs was heavier than the Std turbo... guess a td05 should be in a similar ballpark then, plus weight of fittings/hoses etc. Will have to take the old steelcaps etc and ditch them before I return but should be doable.

Chur, that would be good man. Can preweigh and make sure its going to be under 23kgs.

Definitely is under that. My T88 weighs just on 15kg

Wasnt a standard, DSR430 slug. Still have the DSR at the mo if that weight suits your needs.

You can buy extra luggage allowance before you go.
Cost me NZ$60 for 40kg when I bought back a Commodore brake kit for the HZ = 20kg per side.
I went over in the clothes I was wearing and bought new clothes over there on my first day.

They almost didn't let me take a kingchrome socket set onto a domestic flight in my backpack, worried I'd take the plane apart midflight bahaha

Near as makes no difference to 10kg. Td05hra 16g with titanium compressor and 10.5cm rear housing.

Friend of mine couldnt take some of his tools over to Aussie with him as he needed them for his job. They wouldnt allow them on board.

Carry on is a no-go, checked should be fine. I've personally taken pinions, shims, hand tools, battery drills, various bearings, drill sets to Oz with no problem in checked luggage. Most trouble I had was with the shims and pinions, 28kg box of tightly packed stainless steel and high strength plastic gears. They xrayed it 5 times but they still couldn't see much, asked me what it was and seemed happy enough to let it fly once I told them.

I've actually been surprised at what I have got through security in carry on. had a couple of smallish screwdrivers in my laptop bag I'd forgotten about, and they had no problem with that. Would've been most useful if I'd wanted to stab someone..

These were large 3/4 sockets etc. He's a diesel mechanic.
