Welded a new captive nut inside the chassis rail, what a $%^* of a job.

Picked up 3 gauges for the MR2, tested the OBDII adapters on the Honda by reseting the DTCs and reseting fuel trims. About to go wash the Honda in prep for a lesson on how to detail a car tomorrow from Mr Shiny.

heh, not hard.

A lady decided to pull out in front of me at the large roundabout at the end of the Toll road in Tauranga (Route K).....she was looking straight ahead as I hit the brakes and turned...still hit her though :(
Mostly cosmetic and she is insured and has accepted liability which is good...but still a PITA.

Sorry to see that. Unfortunately you're not the only MX-5 to be in accident today. My brother's '98 MX-5 was got written off on the motorway a couple of hours ago

^ what happened?

Today: Removed Trust intake kit and Turbosmart BOV. Fitted stock airbox with new Mazdaspeed panel filter and stock recirc BOV. No more turbo spooling noises and venting noise everytime I change gear over 2000rpm

With the BOV gone my intercooler cover can go back on and the engine bay is tidy/stock looking.

Before/After
Image

Jumped on the rear and pulled off the "turbo" badge. Hopefully this will stop every Commodore homo I drove past from tailgating me and trying to race me. Also pulled off the tail light tint. Wasn't a fan/was illegal.

Looks good! Wasn't a fan of the tinted tail lights so good to hear that it was just an overlay. Did you notice any difference in performance when you went from the Trust intake kit to the factory intake airbox?

iOnic wrote:^ what happened?

He was on the motorway behind a truck which suddenly swerved into the other lane, and next thing he knew he went right up the back of a car stopped in a queue of traffic. He couldn't see past the truck so was oblivious as to what was up ahead. The truck driver mustn't have been watching, reacted at the last second, my brother saw the car up front, hit the brakes but it was too late. Fortunately nobody was injured and he's fully insured, but the airbags came out and the car will likely be a complete right off.

Gutted. Sounds like both MX5's just couldn't stop in time.

Performance difference: Not really any different. My tuner and I did some pulls with his laptop plugged in this afternoon to make sure it was safe and there really no noticeable difference. Still quicker than his Focus RS and still running stock peak boost :D that's it for engine mods for now. It's just on the limit of usable power for the suspension it has. With the engine mount and anti lift kit installed it doesn't wheelspin or torque steer from a roll anymore - it just hooks up and goes. My tuner keeps pushing for an intercooler upgrade and 20psi which will max the stock turbo and make about 350hp but I don't see the point on shit suspension and brakes.

Thanks man. It's definitely impressive. Doesn't need more power than stock tbh, just little tweaks to make use of what it's got. That's what Mazda did with the BL.

RE GTA: I almost did  saw one for $12k with low Kms and full GSR interior/exterior and I needed a daily. Couldn't do it though.

Amazingly, after like 7 3SGTEs I have never had a HFH fail! Maybe thats tempting fate

Oh and to stay on topic, today I reset the ecu in the Legacy. After a bit of idling and drive to work seems to be running a little smoother. Also got the seat back for my YZ450F from the upholstery place as I had to get it lowered. It had been raised, and as its such a tall bike and i'm not that tall I couldn't reach the ground propely

No roof = homologated roll protection would need to be fitted
Also deregistered car = homologated roll protection would need to be fitted

So quite a bit more investment required than a wof'd road car that isn't a convertible.
