Whats everyone's opinion on car trailers?
Pros and cons of solid or sprung. Dual or single axle.

I'm looking to buy one to tow my race car on (Toyota corrolla allex) weighs around 1050/1100 kgs.
Will be towed behind an Aurion 1600kg braked weight.

Was leaning towards a single axle to keep weight down but after opinions.

Single axel and sprung is my opinion.

FWIW I believe it is now illegal to tow an unsprung trailer at more than 50kmh.

We converted our trailer from unsprung to sprung and it makes no real difference when towing with a car on it to be honest,
but towing it empty the difference is huge as the unsprung bounces and rattles all over the show,
the sprung trailer you forget it is even there.

Im a big fan of tandem trailers, seen a couple of hot rods written off when tyre blowouts have happened on single axle trailers,

Definitely sprung
Im building a transporter at the moment, 4500x 2050 deck size, tandem with tilting deck, width will be right on legal limit once guards etc are fitted

Having had that happen, a big factor is the weight of the tow vehicle. Get a proper one and obey the factory tow limits from the manufacturer. I would never go over 1400-1500kg vehicle weight on a single axle trailer and you definitely need brakes. No personal experience but mates with caravans really rate electric over hydraulic override. Tow vehicle heavier than what you are towing is a nice to have feature, NZTA guidelines (that manufacturers ratings potentially over-rule) are 1.5 time weight for braked and 0.75 for un-braked.

Aren't most hire trailers unsprung? Interested to hear more on this as I hire trailers pretty regularly for all manner of stuff.

Single Axel, sprung, braked, tilting and galv dipped.
If your towing with a smaller car (rated to 1600kg) I would give the brakes a birthday before starting. (Says with experience of towing with a Commodore and about 10% braking capacity -due to being old and cooked - over the Rimutakas - 2 feet on the brake pedal and pulling against the wheel)
